The Hidden Gems Garden Walk is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25. Sponsored by The Town & Country Garden Club of Libertyville, the Garden Walk features five gardens located throughout Libertyville.

All of these gardens have been designed with their own distinctive qualities. Patrons will see a decorative tree house that serves as a backdrop to a colorful display of flowers; a woodland shade garden with fountains and potted tropical plants; a certified butterfly garden; one of the 10 oldest red maples in Illinois; a gentle cascading waterfall; and a creative floral venue used for hosting summer concerts.

Whatever the garden's theme, attendees will be impressed and inspired by the colors provided by annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees and vines. They will see how to create a garden providing four-season interest and see examples of how to create a steady stream of bloom from spring to fall.

At the individual gardens, visitors will find creative tea cup gardens for sale, plus raffle tickets for a chance to win a larger container garden. In addition, The Lake County Forest Preserve will have a staffed Buckthorn Information Table at one of the homes.

All proceeds from the Hidden Gems Garden Walk will go toward funding for public plantings, the Libertyville Township Food Pantry, and a Stephanie Greene Scholarship for students pursuing a college degree in a horticulture-related program.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 online at TownCountryGardenClub.com or in person (cash or check) at the Libertyville Village Hall and How Impressive, 326 N. Milwaukee, Libertyville.

On the day of the walk, tickets can be purchased at How Impressive for $20 or at the Garden Walk home on Hunters Lane.
