SKANEATELES, N.Y. – In 1991, independent movie producer Becky Barker was not thinking about historic preservation when she purchased the property at 857 Crow Hill Road near Skaneateles.

She had driven past the three-building estate “at least 30 times,” and thought it had potential to house her studio which she wanted to move to the village from Syracuse.
